Our Creative Writing PhD students come from a variety of academic backgrounds, nationalities, and writing experiences, but what successful applicants have in common is enormous writing talent and potential, and the commitment and ability to engage critically with the contexts in which they write, and the processes and techniques they employ. The PhD in Creative Writing combines a proposed manuscript e. The proposed creative manuscript will be volume length the natural length of a book, depending on genre. He has taught widely in the area of British literature post, and specialises in Victorian Literature and Religion. He has co-edited collections on religion and literature for Ashgate and Continuum , and is the co-editor of Literature and the Bible: A Reader Routledge, More recently, Mark edited The Routledge Companion to Literature and Religion , a major work with new essays by 40 leading international scholars from departments of literature, religion and theology. In addition to the projects described above, Mark has published on Victorian ghost stories, nineteenth-century periodicals, nineteenth-century religion, sensation fiction, Charles Dickens, Wilkie Collins, Oscar Wilde, Marie Corelli, and the hermeneutics of Hans-Georg Gadamer. New projects include a book on Oscar Wilde's religion, and an essay on Alice Meynell's literary experiments in natural theology.
